What is the difference between monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels?
1. Structural composition: Monocrystalline silicon is a single crystal of silicon, a crystal with a basically complete lattice structure. Different directions have different properties, and it is a good semiconductor material. Polycrystalline silicon is a form of single-substance silicon. When molten single-substance silicon solidifies under supercooling conditions, silicon atoms are arranged into many crystal nuclei in the form of diamond lattices. If these crystal nuclei grow into grains with different crystal plane orientations, these grains will combine and crystallize into polycrystalline silicon, which is a good semiconductor material. Polycrystalline silicon can be used as a raw material for pulling single-crystalline silicon. The difference between polycrystalline silicon and single-crystalline silicon is mainly manifested in physical properties. Amorphous silicon is a semiconductor. It is a product of non-crystallization during the silicon preparation process. There are many so-called "dangling bonds" in its structure, that is, electrons that do not form bonds with the surrounding silicon atoms. These electrons can generate current under the action of an electric field. 2.
